Altar Servers- assist the Priest and congregation at t sacred liturgies, especially the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The society is currently open to responsible, committed young people from grades three through twelve who have received their First Holy Communion. Training is provided. The Choir- is an adult ensemble of signers who provide a rich experience of liturgical and sacred music at the English Mass each Sunday from September through June, and at the major liturgical events of the Church year. Safe Environment Mandate: all ministries that work with children require that the adult volunteers follow Safe Environment Mandates, which include participating in a VIRTUS workshop, a full background check, and agreement to a Pastoral Code of Conduct. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion–assist in the distribution of the Eucharist at Mass with reverence and dignity. Many Extraordinary Ministers also are involved in bringing the Body of Christ to the sick, the elderly, the homebound and residents in nursing homes. Lectors – have the responsibility of proclaiming the Scripture readings during the Liturgy of the Word at parish celebrations of the Eucharist. The ministry is open to all men and women of the parish. Lectors serve at least once a month during Sunday liturgy. Training is provided. Ministers of Hospitality – are instrumental in creating an atmosphere of warmth and welcome for those arriving to share in the Eucharist each weekend. These men and women greet our parishioners as they enter the church, help in seating the congregation, take up the collection and distribute the parish bulletin at liturgy’s end. This ministry is open to all men and women of the parish. Commitment is approximately 90 minutes. Catechist – are men and women engaged in the ministry of teaching the faith to primary and high school age children. All the necessary training, supervision and materials are provided by the parish. Teaching the faith to future generations is the nucleus of the church, it is through the time, dedication and inspiration of the catechist along with immediate family that children begin to experience a connection to God.
